3 more days

Kelsey is huge! In a good way. We are soooooo excited for Olive to come out of the oven. Our doctor, Dr. Drake; not Armory, expects her to weigh around 9.5 lbs. Kelsey and I have often talked about how Olive will look. What features of mine will she inherit and what features from her beautiful mother will she inherit. I just realized how therapeutic blogging is, I get to speak and everyone else has to listen (I digress). I'll post pictures of Olive as soon as I get a chance.

As the day approaches, I've been praying more and more for Olive. At first I was concerned about what she would do in life: who will she marry? what hobbies will she have? etc... Now I find myself praying and pleading with God for just one thing, "Lord, I want her to know You." People say that having a baby changes your life and they are right. Olive hasn't been born, but already I sense an overwhelming responsibility to do everything I can to foster for her a relationship with Jesus.

Someone once said, "The greatest gift a father can give his children is to love their mother." I think that is a great gift indeed. However, I believe the greatest gift a father can give his children is to love the Lord and to model Christ-likeness in all aspects of life. Sure, it is important to provide and protect; but the most important thing a father can do is make a spiritual impact in their child's life that will last for all of eternity.

"Father, make me a father like You. Teach me to show mercy, extend grace, chasten when I have to, to be tender, to be kind, and to love unconditionally. Forgive me Lord when I fail to be the father I should. Convict me when I am selfish, rebuke me when I complain. Prepare me for the road ahead in Jesus name, amen."

vergil,

i second your prayers and will be saying some of my own this week for you, olive, and kels. i m so impressed with your words and the wisdom you write, even without being a father with a baby in his arms yet. the fact is, you became a father the moment that baby became reality. i am thrilled for the both of you.

i cant wait to welcome baby olive to this world that Jesus has made for her.

Welcome to the blogging world! We are so excited for you guys. You two are going to be amazing parents. We're praying for you these next crazy days, and will continue to pray that Olive will be healthy and happy and most of all that she would learn to love her Savior. I can't wait to hold her!
